I was born in a place called Haripal, in Hooghly District of West Bengal State of India. In the very early age, we had to move between places in and around the district, because of the nature of my father's job. My early education started at home.

1972 - 1975 :My first school was Vivekananda Shishu shiksha Mandir in Chinsura. All I remember about the school is that it was full of affection and care by the madams. We have a very small group of students there. It was my Class II to Class IV. Sorry, I have no pictures of anyone.
We moved back to Haripal as our new home was built and I started my Secondary Education. My school was just opposite to our house. For next few years it was my second home.

1976 - 1982:
Haripal Gurudayal Institution - It was a famous school in the district not only because of its few talented students, but for many very renowned teachers who were excellent in their subjects. Every teacher helped me grow as a young child and I got all types of support from each one of them. Sports and Games, drama, recitation, debate, quiz were among the fun we had beside studies.
I was a good student, thanks to the utmost sincerity of my parents and teachers. I always wished that in every opportunity I must get fame for my beloved school. My dream came true when I was honored by the Chief Minister for being among the toppers in the district in Secondary Examination. I got more than 85% marks and gave me a chance to study in one of the best schools in West Bengal for the Higher Secondary.

1982 - 1984:
Ramakrishna Mission Residential College - Narendrapur - That was the first time in my life when I had to come out of my home and stayed in a hostel. All the best students in the state were around me, including the first boy Manoj Pillai and the second Shanku Mallick. It was a real challenge for me to prove myself. I was staying in 'Gouranga Bhavan'. These two years were so vital for the future that everyone was more or less serious.
We were at Simachalam Temple in South India. Our Biology Group went for an educational tour there. Principal Basanta Maharaj and professor N. Bhanja were among the teachers. We had lots of fun there.
I was in the pure science group but with Biology as optional subject. I was not a kind of student who wanted to go for Higher studies in General Science Subjects. Rather, I was interested to go for the professional line. With both Biology and Mathematics as my favorite subjects, I had the privilege of choosing Medical or Engineering stream whichever I want. But I was more inclined towards Engineering. The JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) results even surprised me. I was selected for both but my rank in Medical was much better than expected - among the top 10 [6th in the merit list]. Now I had to take the toughest decision. I do not know why, but I choose to study Electronics and Telecommunication in Bengal Engineering College.

1984 - 1988
These four years were full of various types of experiences. In the first year it was more like an extension of school days. Gradually from 2nd year onwards, when we started involving more and more with departmental subjects and new technologies, things started changing. Digital and Microwave communication, Integrated Electronics, Semiconductors and Opto-Electronics were some of my favorite subjects. In the final year, we started interacting with the Industry people through various campus interviews. At some point of time we felt direction-less to choose the best one for the future.
Hostel life in BEC was a bit different than the earlier one. Here people feel somewhat secured in their future and friends around were very helpful in every respect. Richardson Hall - where I stayed in last two years, were always lively and eventful. I enjoyed this life to the fullest extent. Study 20 hours a day before exam was no fun.
We developed some strong bonding between our friends in the hostel. Read together, play together, eat together helped me learning the art of sharing. I still carry with me the good memories of some precious moments I spent there.

In the final year of our college, we organised a tour to Bombay and Goa - a beach resort in Western India. It took us from the confinement of books-filled rooms to an unlimited joy at least for 2-3 weeks. That was October 1987.

After completion, I decided to join Hindustan Computers Limited (HCL) as a hardware engineer. I went to Dehradun, UP for a training in June 1988.
After long seven years of working in industry, I decided to come to college and try to do some higher studies. I got admitted in Computer Science department in B.E. College and started my Masters in Computer Science. But unfortunately I had to abort it after one year after completing the 1st semester.
